Man O'War Vineyard

The Man O’ War story begins with a special piece of land which has a rich history. Located at the eastern end of Waiheke Island, Man O’ War is a stunning array of coastal hillsides with high cliffs and pristine beaches forming a ruggedly beautiful coastline. Over two hundred years after Cook first sighted Man O’ War, we were convinced that world class wine could be grown here. Throwing caution to the wind we began planting our first vines in 1993. Today, Man O’ War consists of 150 acres of vines planted in 76 individual hillside blocks, each with a distinct soil profile and microclimate. The tasting room is right next to the beach at Man O’ War Bay and provides in-door as well as garden settings to enjoy. Auckland Seaplanes partners with Man O’ War vineyard to deliver Fly & Dine wine-tasting experiences.

The first plantings at Mudbrick were in 1992 by Nick and Robyn Jones, who still own and operate the property today. Planted area is now on two distinctively different sites: the Mudbrick Vineyard at Church Bay and Shepherds Point Vineyard at Onetangi. We also source grapes from different regions, because different regions specialise and do some varieties very well, better than they would grow on Waiheke Island. We source Sauvignon Blanc from Marlborough, and Pinot Noir from Central Otago. Auckland Seaplanes partners with Mudbrick to deliver Fly & Dine packages.

Maritime Museum

The Museum was first proposed in 1980 by a group of like-minded individuals, many of whom were Auckland Harbour Board and United Steamship Company members. It was to house the growing collection of maritime archives within the Auckland Maritime Society and Auckland Museum collections, while establishing a New Zealand maritime history collection and exhibition facility. It was to be the first and only museum that dealt with New Zealand’s maritime history as a whole, and was to be called the Auckland Maritime Museum Hobson Wharf.

Poderi Crisci

Located at the end of a country lane, Poderi Crisci is a family-owned vineyard and restaurant with Italian flair and a passion for traditional winemaking. For four generations the Crisci family have been immersed in the art of food and wine. Antonio, born and raised in Napoli, arrived in NZ in the early ’90s quickly making a name for himself in the Auckland scene with the establishment of Toto restaurant in Nelson Street. With his partner Vivienne Farnell they opened Non Solo Pizza in 1996, now an institution in Parnell. The first merlot vines were planted in 2000. The success of the first vines led to the planting of other grape varieties and vegetable gardens with Poderi Crisci being founded in 2008 and the restaurant opening in 2010. Antonio, a visionary, has transformed the Waiheke Island vineyard into a place people will visit to wine, dine and have ‘layers of experience.’ Just arriving at Poderi Crisci you may well think that you have been transported to Tuscany.
